Our Services

DIVORCE MEDIATION

The divorce mediation service is provided by our pool of volunteer mediators, many of whom are accredited with South African Association of Mediators (SAAM). Mediation is often a more cost-effective and productive route for
those dealing with separation, co-parenting or divorce, compared to litigation.

Our co-mediation platform means that you will have a legal mediator and helping professions mediator, allowing you to receive guidance from a legal and psychological background.

COUNSELLING

Our counselling services are offered by qualified Psychologists and Social
Workers. We offer individual, family, trauma and relationship counselling.
Counselling can assist with a specific challenge you might be facing or simply
be used as a means of maintaining a healthy state of mind which benefits all
aspects of your life.

TRAINING

The Family Life Centre is accredited by The Health and Welfare Sector
Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) as a Training Centre.

Training courses are run throughout the year and are appropriate for psychology students, educators, attorneys, health  professionals and para-professionals who wish to develop their knowledge base and skills in divorce mediation and counselling.

Please download the Training Programme for more information on our courses.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME

Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) can be tailored to your business
or organisation’s needs, our professional staff will address your employees’ personal or family challenges to ensure that their personal and professional lives work in harmony.

We offer a range of counselling services for employees including trauma counselling, talks and workshops which are best suited for your specific department, business or industry. Please contact us to see how we can assist your organisation or business according to its unique requirements.

ParentinG Skills

The Family Life Centre offers Parenting Skills Training in which our
professional facilitators equip parents with tools to promote positive
behaviour, strengthen communication and improve relationships with their
children. This training also provides an opportunity for parents to come
together in a group setting which allows for greater support, understanding
and encouragement.

EDUCATION FOR LIVING

The goal of the Education for Living Programme is to provide young people with the knowledge to make good choices in their own lives and the skills to create healthy relationships with themselves, their families, their friends and the opposite sex. Through interactive workshops including the use of training tools such as charts, role plays, group discussions and sometimes video footage, we aim to empower young people in the decisions they will have to make both
in the present and in the future.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION & ENRICHMENT

Prepare and Enrich is a structured programme designed to help couples work on their relationship. This is done through several exercises covering
categories such as communication, conflict resolution, personality and much more.

These exercises are aimed at giving couples the opportunity to assess their
relationship, acknowledge the strengths and growth areas and learn skills to
manage issues.

SUPPORT GROUPS

The centre facilitates two support groups, these are: Anger
Management and Divorce Support.

These groups are an opportunity to share your experiences and concerns with others facing similar challenges in safe environment. All sessions are essential and consist of four weekly sessions that are two hours long.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Throughout the year, the Family Life Centre facilitates several projects
through its Community Development Programmes including Diepsloot Single
Mother’s Support Group, Body-mapping, Westbury Holiday Programme. We also initiate and commemorate other significant events such as Child Protection Week, Women’s Month and Nelson Mandela Day. If you would like to find more about our Community Development, please contact us.
